Staycay Your Way (with 30% credit!) at the Family-Friendly Four Seasons Hotel Singapore

For those with kids, I don't think I need to tell you that staycations are simply superb for the parenting soul. How so? Simply because staycations allow for a quick recharge without the need of lugging huge suitecases and packing excessively.

No passports, no need for hours of travelling and definitely no 'are-we-there-yet' moments - which is great especially for families with young kids. On a more practical note, staycations are all that we can enjoy with the current Covid situation around the world. 😅

But staycations need not be boring... if you choose the right family-friendly hotel. Better still if the hotel is situated at a central location, in the vicintiy of good food and shopping AND boasts a roof-top pool like this!

But what exactly makes a five-star hotel family-friendly? Is it the service, the location, the facilities or the people? Well, as we found out during our staycation at Four Seasons Hotel Singapore, it is all of the above... and more.

First, let me preface this post by saying that our staycation was done in early March, before the entire Covid-19 situation flared up. Four Seasons Hotel has since reopened from 1 July 2020 and is proudly SG Clean certified, having met the stringent standards of hygiene and cleanliness outlined by the Singapore government, in addition to the already high requirements by Four Seasons.

So while one may expect certain changes like the discontinuation of buffet breakfasts for now, what definitely wouldn't change is the hospitality provided by the hotel, as notably evidenced from the moment we stepped into our rooms.

What a delightful and personalised welcome! And a bigger wow greeted us when we realised how huge the hotel room actually was.

The thing about newer hotels is space within rooms is often a premium and this can get pretty claustrophobic and chaotic when you have kids staying together - and going crazy all at the same time!

See what I mean? 😂

Not so for Four Seasons, where the rooms are not only big enough but also newly renovated. We stayed in connecting Boulevard rooms, and I love the contemporary design which features soothing tones of mocha, beige and ivory, with burgundy accents. And also with a hint of Peranakan influence too!

As for the bathroom, what can I say? It's one of the most spacious bathrooms I have ever come across in all my hotel stays!

Oh, and I did like the touch of providing toiletries for kids as well - always makes them feel a tad special. 😊

For the adults though, all I can say is Four Seasons beds are the best. They are just super comfy and we literally spent most of our time in the room just lazing on the bed snacking and watching TV... just how a staycation should really be.

And speaking of snacks, Four Seasons Hotel really pampers its guests. 😄

And just in case the wifey and I do not have enough snacks to savour, the kids have their own snacks boxes too!

The other great point about Four Seasons Hotel is its location: it's at Orchard Road but not quite on Orchard Road as well. Located along the quiet stretch of tree-lined Orchard Boulevard, it is away from the bustle of Orchard Road but yet it is only a five-minute walk to ION Orchard. Which also means loads of shopping and dining are within walking distance.

There are two swimming pools at the Four Seasons Hotel Singapore. One is an outdoor lap pool on the third floor which is for adults only.

The other pool is the Family Pool located on the topmost 20th floor but more on that later.

You will also find the spa and lounge on the third floor with the latter open to all guests if you are looking for a nibble or a drink.

Here, cut fruits and cookies in addition to hot and cold bevaregs are provided to all guests at no extra charge.

Ate too much? Don't worry, the huge Fitness Room is also located here. LOL.

After exploring the hotel, we decided to head to Orchard Road for a little bit of shopping and dinner. And when we returned to our room, we found this all perfectly set up in our room.

For hotel guests, you can request Apple TV to be set up in your room at no extra cost - definitely a great perk to spend staycation nights!

And just when I thought sinking into the comfy Four Season Hotel bed while going on a movie marathon couldn't get better, we found these on our table. 😍

Needless to say, we went to bed feeling extremely blissful. And we would have chosen to sleep in more the next day... if not for the lure of breakfast at One-Ninety Restaurant!

As I mentioned earlier, the hotel has done away with buffet breakfast currently due to the Covid situation so breakfast is currently served on an ala-carte basis or you can choose to have breakfast sent to your hotel room.

In fact while we were staying there in March, the hotel had already switched to a semi-buffet style. Food like bread, cereals, fruits were served in a buffet manner but we had to order the mains from the menu and the food would be prepared on the spot.

After breakfast, the kids were all longing to head to the rooftop pool for a swim and it certainly didn't disappoint.

Besaides offering a panoramic view of the city, the family pool is surrounded by cabanas and deck chairs which makes for the perfect location for chilling while the kids go frolicking away in the pool.

And just for kids, there is also a selection of water toys, floating pool games, kickboards and other swimming accessories. And don’t worry if you forgot to bring sunscreen, the hotel provides it for guests too!

So all that is left to do is simply have loads of splashing fun!

But for me, chilling still remains my number one activity. 🤣

Overall, Four Seasons Hotel Singapore certainly lived up to its label as a family-friendly accommodation. We felt utterly pampered by the hotel staff who went out of their way to make the kids feel welcome.

And yes, I still miss that hotel bed very very much.
