Last Thursday marked my first-ever Live radio interview experience, and I lived to tell the tale!
Thanks to I Love Children and Maybe Baby, I was invited to share my parenting thoughts on Radio 938Live's Parenting Made Easy segment.
Together with Ms Celine Yeo, a board member of I Love Children, we fielded questions from Radio DJ Susan Ng on parenting topics which included work-life integration & childcare support for working parents.
Celine is a mother of 3 teenagers, so that meant a total of SIX children from the parents who were on air. Definitely loads of experience to share among us!
For me, I shared that between work and family life, it is all a matter of personal choice. Surely, sacrifices will have to be made if we aspire to achieve a greater balance between the two. As a Financial Planner, appointments are my bread and butter but I make it a point not to fix appointments on weekends so that I can enjoy my time with the family.
I do miss out on potential income but then again, weekends are usually the time when the whole family gets the chance to spend some time together and also to visit the grandparents. So yes, it is all about a shift in priorities and we have to make that sacrifice if we want to create a more conducive environment for our own family to thrive.
On a personal note, I enjoyed the experience of going on air. It was refreshing and enlightening to see how the DJs work ever so deftly behind the microphones. I think I was a bundle of nerves in the beginning, but gradually loosened up as the interview progressed. So I guess I did okay, but there's always room for improvement! :D
Thanks to I Love Children for the kind invitation. It was great to share my thoughts, and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience!
In case anyone is interested to detect the nervousness in my voice, I did record snippets of my interview during its encore telecast last Sunday, but I haven't had the time to upload it yet. I hope to do so soon, and will share the link once it is up!
