September School Holidays Activities for Kids 2013

School's out, Fun's in! Well, for one week at least anyway. And after that, we will just have to endure through the final school term of the year before getting all festive once again with the year-end holidays! Until then, here is a list of holiday activities for your little ones this September break from school.

The Tale of the Frog Prince


The Tale of the Frog Prince musical play teaches children not to judge a book by its cover, treasure their friends and also serves as a light-hearted reminder that we should treat everyone with kindness and respect.

Mummy: Secrets of the Tomb

Mummy: Secrets of the Tomb is an exhibition pairing mummies and artifacts culled from the extensive and famed Egyptian collection of the British Museum with an innovative 3D film experience. For the first time in Singapore and Southeast Asia, the secrets of the mysterious Egyptian burial practices and mummification process will be revealed in technologically-advanced detail.


If you have time, be sure to visit the Essential Eames and 50 Greatest Photographs of National Geographic exhibitions too. The monkies visited all three over the weekend and they enjoyed themselves!

Disney's Planes Movie

Winter Playground @ Changi Airport


Revel and indulge in the wonders of Switzerland at Changi Airport’s ‘Simply Switzerland’ event this September! Feed Me! at Gardens by the Bay

This September, come meet Gardens by the Bay's resident carnivorous plants at the Cloud Forest! Chinatown Mid-Autumn Street Light-up & Bazaar

There is no better place to soak in the festivities and celebration of the Mid-Autumn Festival than in Chinatown. The district, where the Chinese first settled, relives the traditional festival with aplomb. Be enchanted by the lantern-themed decorations of Chinatown as New Bridge Road, Eu Tong Sen Street, South Bridge Road and the inner streets of Chinatown are decorated and lit up by a spectacular myraid of over 20,000 colourful lanterns of varying shapes and sizes, creating a kaleidoscope of colours.

Sentosa Buskers Festival 2013


The wackiest street performances event is back on Sentosa! This September, Sentosa Buskers Festival will gather the best buskers from Singapore and around the world to entertain you with mind-blowing performances on the island. For nine days, you will enjoy performances from different cultures, from good old traditional juggling to modern day mime. The festival doesn’t stop at just busking performances, you get to learn how to juggle or have a taste at being an acrobat with help from a local circus school.

The festival stretches from the Merlion Plaza to Siloso Beach, with performances, buskers training boot camp, food street, beer garden and ‘lost and found treasures’ flea where vintage collectors can get their hands on some rare finds to add on to their collection.

Race Me To The Stars


RACE ME is the biggest scale Soap Box Derby event in Singapore so far. The 2013 finals will take place on Sept 8, 2013 at National University of Singapore, Carpark 5. Besides the soap box derby race there will also be other fringe activities at NUS carpark 5, Sports and Recreation Centre. Admission is free.

Moonfest 2013


Launched in 2005, Moonfest - A Mid Autumn Celebration is an annual Chinese arts festival held in celebration of the mid-autumn festival, Chinese artists and traditional art forms. Through traditional Chinese performances, workshops and talks, it seeks to inspire and expose audiences to the intricacies of Chinese language, arts and culture. Featuring both ticketed and free programmes, highlights of the festival include Chinese opera, ensemble performances, puppetry, lantern riddles, cross talk, Chinese chess and the popular lantern walkabout.

Mid-Autumn Festival Celebration at Downtown East

Mass Lantern Walk at Chinatown

The Chinatown Mid-Autumn Festival 2013 celebrations will culminate with a Mass Lantern Walk. Come dressed like a lantern or bring along your creative lantern to join in the lantern walk which is open to the public. Enjoy a leisurely-paced lantern parade procession under the moonlight, dazzling street light-up and decorations in Chinatown. Be greeted by a wide range of entertainment from dragon dance, energetic cheerleading performance to percussion band during the walk. The lantern walk will conclude with stage performances and pyrotechnics display in the heart of Chinatown.
