5 Fun Themed Staycation Rooms Designed just for Kids

Planning a short staycation with the kids? Aside from the usual hotel rooms with double beds, you can make the hotel stay a special experience for your kids with special themed rooms designed just for them! We have family-friendly resorts right here in Singapore... but kid-themed rooms? Not that many. But judging from the hotels featured below, I think that number is slowly growing.

So whether your kids love cars, pirates, animals, or the underwater world, here are 5 colourful and cheerful hotel rooms that are perfectly suited for the younger guests.

1. Swissotel Merchant Court

Situated conveniently next to Clarke Quay MRT station, Swissotel Merchant Court launched its brand new Family Fun Escape package in August 2016 and it will most certainly put a smile onto the kiddos' faces! For a start, check out the colourful themed bedding.

The rooms are designed for 2-17 yr olds and depending on the age group that your kids are in at the time of booking, the room will be furnished with age-appropriate toys and activities. And yes, there is even a game console in the room!

So expect soft toys, activity books, storybooks, puzzles, and kid-sized desk and chairs - all to keep the little ones entertained.

The bathroom is also stocked with a child friendly step stool, non-slip mat and colourful toiletries. Definitely colourful and kid-friendly!

And as part of the package, you get to book a second connecting room at 50% off, enjoy complimentary entry to Universal Studios Singapore for 2 adults & 2 kids, complimentary ice cream for kids 12 and below and guaranteed late check-out till 4pm. Now that is a seriously FUN staycation for the whole family!

2. Furama RiverFront

Located along Havelock Road and between vibrant Chinatown and Orchard Road, Furama RiverFront has recently upped the ante in providing more kid-friendly facilities for families... and it does not get any bigger than kid-themed hotel rooms!

Besides the above Pirate theme, there are two other themes to choose from - either go deep sea-diving with marine animals in the Underwater World-themed room or set off on a medieval adventure in the Castle-themed room.

Each room comes with a bunk bed that features a single, double and pull-out bed to accommodate two adults and two children. As an added bonus, an XBOX game console is included in the room as well! Games can be loaned from the reception lobby.

Other child-friendly amenities that Furama RiverFront offer includes the PAWS Playroom, a huge play area at its The Square buffet restaurant and an inflatable water bouncy castle.

3. Village Hotel Bugis

Formerly known as Landmark Village Hotel (and even before that, the Golden Landmark Hotel), Village Hotel Bugis is located right smack at crossroads of culture - Singapore’s Arab, Peranakan, and Indian heritage districts. Besides being in close proximity to cultural attractions like Sultan Mosque and Malay Heritage Centre, and also the nostalgia-filled Children Little Museum, Village Hotel Bugis has refurbished some of its rooms into kid-themed ones!

In addition to the Cars-themed room, I understand there are also Princess Sofia-themed rooms. Each room comes with a standard King-sized bed and a sofa bed, complete with bathroom toiletries for the little ones as well. So if you have one or two young kids, the kid-themed room will suffice.

Depending on one's budget and stay occasions, D'Resort has a room whether you are looking to host a BBQ party, enjoy the views of beach or prefer to have a quiet time away from the crowds.

Of particular interest to kids will be the 12 themed Rainforest Family rooms (1 queen-sized bed & 1 bunk bed) available, which include themes of Amazonian Jungle, Underwater and M&M!

The rooms are clearly done up with families with young kids in mind - from the extra stool in the bathroom so that younger kids can reach the sink, to the cutlery provided for the little ones. Kids will also be able to go on a treasure hunt in the room and hunt for clues so as to unlock a specially prepared treasure box filled of goodies.
