It's the day where kids aged 12 and below get their day of fun and so if you are fretting over where to bring them this Friday and/or weekend, I have done the homework for you. Looking for an exciting activity this Children’s Day? Put on your tinker caps and hop on over to IExperience to get creative and have fun constructing your own game! With simple visual programming software, participants will learn about game design, creative thinking and problem solving during the 1-hour workshop. Participants will need to bring along their own laptops with the software pre-installed (instructions will be sent to participants once the registration is confirmed).

Tinker Kids workshops are FREE and registration is required. To join the workshops, please email iexperience@imda.gov.sg with your child’s particulars (including name, age of child and contact information) and your preferred workshop session. Each workshop can accommodate a maximum of 15 participants. All registrations are subjected to availability based on first-come-first-serve basis.

A walk with your neighbours: The macaques of Macritchie

The long-tailed macaques are the most conspicuous animals at Macritchie Reservoir Park. Although commonly seen, they are very misunderstood. Few seeing them realise anything about the social world these monkeys live in. If you would like to learn more about the interesting world of macaques at Macritchie, join in the walk which is led by experts from the Jane Goodall Institute Singapore.

Go on an adventure and hunt for different shapes around Gillman Barracks! How many shapes can you spot in a work of art, or in the leafy nature surrounding Gillman Barracks? Cover specific areas, get creative and collect stamps along the way. Come back to Playeum to claim your special token when you have completed the activity. For ages 3 to 12.

Power Up Gillman
Let’s have fun with technology! Tinker with recycled materials and immerse yourself in an environment where paper meets electronics by building upon the landscape of Gillman Barracks in this all day drop-in activity at Playeum’s Children Centre for Creativity. Integrate circuits, add on 3D structures and personalise your creations with LED lights in this collaborative installation layout that will gradually expand as the day goes on. For ages 2 to 12.

Puppets
Tell your own stories with puppet play. Using everyday materials, parents and children can work together to create a puppet theatre to tell their favourite story. Work with the puppets provided puppets or make your own! For ages 5 to 12.

Tell A Story Through Stop Motion Animation
Enjoy collective storytelling through stop motion animation. In this creative workshop, children can contribute individual ideas to create a group story, then fabricate their own puppet actors, and learn to animate. Don’t miss this collaborative, fun activity that encourages quirky storytelling ideas, creativity, experimentation and imagination. For ages 6 to 12.
