The annual Octoburst! – A Children’s Festival is back! Participate, play and get those imaginative minds fired up at the 16th edition of this three-day celebration of children, bursting with performances, activities, workshops and more. This year, through the magic of theatre, dance and music, we share with our little ones the importance of being inclusive and the values of friendship and family.

Celebrate the beauty of Hawaiian hula with Halau Hula Kealohilani (Kupono Lani) helmed by Artistic Director Sue Kealohiokalani Mayuzumi. Marked by her distinct philosophy and artistry, Sue embodies and imparts hula as a way of life. Through stories and dance, this performance highlights the development of hula from ancient tribal Hawaii known as hula kahiko, to modern hula auana, which is influenced by the introduction of the guitar and ukulele. Featuring performers from ages 3 and up, come see a brief history of Hawaii expressed through hula.

In a production that quite literally breathes life into drawings on paper, Upside Down tells the story of two characters brought together by a missing cat. What happens when two people who have previously lived in separate spaces and seen the world from different points of view are forced together for a common purpose? Perspectives and outlooks are turned upside down as these two strangers figure out how to share a space.

Playeum’s fifth hands-on interactive exhibition “GOING PLAY-CES: A Wanderful Exploration of New Lands” is now open! Co-created by Playeum, Participate In Design and artists from D/SINI and The Animal Book Co, this exhibition gives visitors opportunities to navigate and explore Play-ces through various landscapes such as the sea, jungle, city and beyond. Children will experience and engage with their imagination, while thinking about sustainability, innovation and the role of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics) in everyday life and the future.
