Sungei Buloh workout

Daddy & Mummy were feeling fat, and so they decided to drag kor-kor & me along to Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve early yesterday morning for a good trekking workout.

Well, not that I minded of course... 'cos I got my pram mah. Wahahaha! Kor-kor, too had his buggy board so not much walking for the both of us... :P

And so off we went along the trail, with kor-kor paying particularly close attention to see if he could spot any birds, or the more common monitor lizards that were sun-tanning in the sun.

There are these giant wooden boards with windows that allow us to see the birds on the wetlands opposite us, but most of the time kor-kor & I couldn't see anything except for loads of shells on the sand...

See? No birdies in sight...

Kor-kor was up to his cheekie self again; always trying to grab my hat when I wasn't looking. Hmph!

Ok ok, so I wasn't exactly a saint too... I also got disturb kor-kor lah. *sheepish smile*

With the calls of the cicadas sounding in the background, we plodded along the trail taking in the wondrous sights of nature.

We got to see the roots of mangroves that were sticking out of the ground, and also spotted the occasional mudskipper too!

Kor-kor was particularly fascinated by some tiny shellfish that climbed onto the tree trunks that Mummy had pointed out to him...

Can eat one or not??? Hee hee... Anyway, we continued with our journey along the trail.

We then reached one of the many observation hides which was welcome relief for our legs! Hee hee...

Out came all the water, soft drinks & tidbits as we plonked our bums onto the wooden bench, and enjoyed the nice view of the wetland area...

Now we can see the birdies!

Erm, and we went ga-ga over taking photos of our silly faces too... :P

With our feet rested, we continued on with the route... trying to catch some butterflies and dragonflies along the way.

With the sun climbing further above our heads, Daddy & Mummy decided to stick to Route 1 which was 3km long. Perhaps we would conquer the Route 2 (5km) whcih would lead us to the prawn pond or the Route 3 (7km) which would bring us to the freshwater ponds.

Next time lah... 'cos kor-kor & I were getting hungry liao...

We certainly enjoyed the place lots... sure didn't get stung by the mozzies as initially feared. They all zoomed in on Mummy for no apparent reason. Hahaha...
