YOU MADE IT! Congratulations on surviving the first term of a brand new school year! With the week-long March School Holidays around the corner, it is time to put the books away for a while and reward the kiddos with a little bit of fun.


And you have come to the right place... because I have compiled more than 55 activities for kids to take their pick this March School Holidays! Yes, there is hardly enough time given there are only 9 days of school holidays so that only makes early planning all the more important. Have fun!

Setting the Bay aglow with 20 sustainable light art installations around the Marina Bay waterfront, the i Light Marina Bay festival is a showcase of light art installations created by artists from Singapore and around the world. Taking on the theme “Light & Nature” this year, the 20 light art installations invite the public to consider the relationship of light with nature and the city, and how light reconciles the push and pull between the constructed and the natural. Through it all, it serves to remind us of the importance of environmentally-friendly habits. And best of all, it is FREE!

There will be tons of other fringe events too - like an Uncle Ringo Carnival! - but just strolling through the installations is going to be a treat for the whole family. Read my detailed post on the event for family-friendly activities!

March will be a month of excitement and anticipation, as the wait for blossoms to come into full bloom begins! These beautiful and transient flowers, known for their unpredictable blooming, are back in Flower Dome with the “Blossom Bliss” (粉色之恋) floral display.

This year, there will be more trees spread out around the conservatory, as well as new varieties that will be on show for the first time. The pretty hues of pink and white will be showcased in a Japanese-inspired landscape that features a picturesque tree-lined pathway and traditional rickshaws for the perfect photo opportunity.

Art-Zoo, a festival hub at The Float @ Marina Bay, will house 11 larger-than-life inflatable art installations in a giant play-garden. From plants, animals, to ecosystems that represent different letters of the alphabet, Art-Zoo explores nature through the perspective of art in an imaginative landscape.

From manoeuvring through a Giraffe maze to walking through the belly of a Whale or taking pictures with a towering Spider, this interactive and visual adventure promises great fun for the young and the young-at-heart while learning more about wildlife and creating a sustainable world.

There are plenty of Tsum Tsum-related activities happening at CapitaLand malls in the month-long Tsum Tsum carnival! Recreating scenes from the popular Disney Tsum Tsum short series, shoppers can watch Tsum Tsums spring to life when the clock tower strikes Tsum o’clock on the hour at Plaza Singapura, test their agility clearing a ninja-inspired mini obstacle course at Junction 8 and Sembawang Shopping Centre, and get an adrenaline rush whilst racing Tsum Tsums atop robotic cars at Tampines Mall. With an extensive line-up of more than 30 arts activities spanning over 12 locations, AYN is a great way for everyone to experience the arts in your very own neighbourhood, whether you are catching an arts performance for the first time or a seasoned arts-goer.

From 9-26 March, let your imagination take flight with A Dragon Behind The Door & More! - an engaging theatrical performance of puppets, larger-than-life characters, and surprises a-plenty for the entire family. Create your own soundtracks at Whisper to a Roar - a unique installation inspired by the everyday sounds in the neighbourhood and be mesmerised by the splendour of Malay traditional music in Muzik Kita - a two-hour music extravaganza. This March holidays, our Zoo-rassic Park dinosaur friends in River Safari and Singapore Zoo are spreading the conservation message to help threatened wildlife escape a fate similar to them. Discover critically endangered animals such as the Sumatran elephant, Sumatran orangutan and Sulawesi crested macaque when you embark on the Together for Wildlife trail and learn how the smallest action can help impact their lives. The trail continues with animals like the Indian gharial, Mekong Giant Catfish and Amur sturgeon at River Safari.

Find out how our keepers engage these critically endangered residents through a series of animal enrichments and feedings to help encourage their natural behaviour. Parents will get the opportunity to bond with their children over craft activities. Pass on conservation messages to the little ones, while turning discarded egg cartons into adorable turtles or decorating orangutan and elephant masks.

Mr Lightning Fingers has been performing in the art of balloon twisting on stage for more than 20 years. His show demonstrates his lightning speed of twisting balloons into cartoon characters like Bugs Bunny, Mickey Mouse and many more! Join in Mr Lightning Finger’s balloon sculpting workshop at MOSH! Café 30 minutes after each show to learn his tricks and tips to create the most adorable balloon pieces.

This March School Holidays, City Square Mall is pleased to present Playtime With The Chatterbox! ‘Live’ Show, with the characters of Hi-5 – Chats and Tinka – taking centre stage from 11 to 19 March (daily except Mon). With interactive games such as ‘Hide-and-Seek’ and ‘Guess the Animal’, learning and fun never stops for the little ones. You might even end up singing and dancing along to popular Hi-5 tunes like ‘It’s a Party’, ‘L.O.V.E’ and ‘So Many Animals’! . With a minimum spending of $50, shoppers can redeem a pass for the Meet & Greet session one hour prior to each show at the Level 2 Customer Service Counter. Grab them quickly though, as there are only 50 passes per session!

The “Kids for a Greener World” returns to KidZania Singapore this March school holidays with an array of aquatic themed activities. Special hands-on activities will be held from 11-31 March to teach kids fun facts about aquatic life, and learn more about water – the world’s most precious resource.

Focusing on the theme of Aquatic Life this year, kids will learn to appreciate the importance of conservation towards water and marine life. Parents and kids get to participate in a handful of interactive activities with Singapore’s National Water Agency, PUB, and other Industry Partners.‎ Activities include: a Terrarium workshop to learn about the natural water cycle, constructing a Mini Rain Garden to learn about water filtration, as well as seeing and hearing various marine animals through Virtual Reality (VR).

Playeum has refreshed its exhibition with 'A World Full of Stories', which combines the fundamental facets of stories with play.
