A Unique Farm Stay in a Cabin with Stunning Mountain Views Found in Kluang, Johor!

No comments :

Situated a 1.5-hour drive from Singapore is a unique farm stay experience, with gorgeous cabins, farm animals and activities, and breathtaking views.

Wait a minute, you mean this place can be found in JOHOR, Malaysia???

Yup.

Set in the foothills of Gunung Lambak in Kluang, Johor, Talula Hill Farm Resort is a fruit, animal, and vegetable farm which also happens to offer cabins for guests to momentarily escape the bustle of city life and soak in the tranquility of the resorts's surroundings.

For sure, one can never get tired of the beauty of scenery at every turn.

But the main highlight for families has got to be the 16 cabins that offer guests a night (or two) of accommodation.

ACCOMMODATION AT TALULA HILL FARM RESORT

There are four types of cabins to choose from:

STANDARD CABIN

Rate: RM340 per night (for 2 pax) | Additional pax at RM100

These cabins come with 2 single beds and can fit up to 3 pax. They have no balcony and no view.

DELUXE CABIN

Rate: RM380 per night (for 2 pax) | Additional pax at RM100

These cabins come with 2/3 single beds and can fit up to 3 pax. They come with a balcony that looks out to the farm pond and the glorious peaks of mountain ranges.

GROUP CABIN

Rate: RM540 per night (for 4 pax)

For groups of 4, go for the Group Cabin which has 2 Bunk Beds (4 signle beds in total). The balcony overlooks the fruit orchard and the lush greens of the Gunung Lambak forest.

LOFT CABIN

Rate: RM620 per night (for 4 pax) | Additional pax at RM100

For families of 5, book the Loft Cabin which is the most beautiful cabin of the lot. Three single beds occupy the first level while the loft level has a king-sized bed.

But more than that, the cabin has a pitch roof with a grand window which opens up to a panoramic view of the farm pond and mountain peaks right at the balcony!

ALL room amenities include air-conditioning, free WiFi, mini pantry area as well a separate bathroom and toilet area.

Overall, the Loft Cabin we had was comfy and clean.

All of the rates quoted above are inclusive of breakfast and farm activities.

I'll get to the farm activities in a bit but here's what to expect for breakfast.

During our 1-night stay there, it was a simple buffet breakfast which consisted of fried beehoon, sausages, baked beans, muffins, toast and cereal. Nothing too fanciful, but it was adequate.

ACTIVITIES AT TALULA HILL FARM RESORT

Indoor Games at the Event Hall

(FREE FOR GUESTS)

The Event Hall is located within the same cluster of buildings as the cabins and is the place where breakfast is served.

It is also where guests can enjoy games like table tennis, mini billiards and carrom.

There are board games available as well.

FARM ANIMALS

(FREE FOR GUESTS)

What's a farm without animals, no?

Go on a mini farm tour where there are chickens, ducks, geese, goats and rabbits roaming around in the farm shed.

Get a chance to feed the animals too between 5.30pm and 6.30pm daily, where the resort staff will be on site for the animal feeding session.

FISHING

(FREE FOR GUESTS)

Grab a fishing rod and have a go at fishing at the Pontoon beside the animal shed. Fishing rods and bait are available for use at the pontoon.

WATER DIPPING AT THE GROTTO

(FREE FOR GUESTS)

Enjoy a dip in cool mountain water that flows down from Gunung Lambak at the Grotto.

Do note that the Grotto closes at 6.45pm daily and all children must be accompanied by an adult.

HARVEST FARM VEGETABLES

(FREE FOR GUESTS)

Always wanted to be a gardener? Head to the Vegetable Garden located near the Farm Cafe and help its staff in watering and harvesting vegetables. (Note that harvesting is subjected to season)

SATURDAY NIGHT CAMPFIRE

(FREE FOR GUESTS)

Only for Saturday nights, head to the BBQ area in front of the Reception area for a night of stargazing by the campfire.

Pity it was raining when we were there so the campfire couldn't take place.

CATCH THE SUNRISE AT SUNRISE DECK

(FREE FOR GUESTS)

If you are an early bird, head to the Sunrise Deck in front of the Reception building before dawn amd you will be rewarded with an awesome view of the sun rising from behind the mountains.

HIKING UP GUNUNG LAMBAK

If you are game, Talula Hill Farm Resort is the perfect launchpad for a hike up Gunung Lambak.
At a height of approximately 1673 feet, Gunung Lambak is considered a moderate hike in terms of difficulty and takes about 4 to 5 hours to ascend and descend.

We didn't had time to do the hike but it is a hike that I definitely would want to experience in future!

WHAT TO EAT AT TALULA HILL FARM RESORT

The farm is also home to a cafe which serves an array of Western & Asian contemporary food.

But more importantly, I think most people come here for the amazing view of the surroundings. 😅

Prices are on the higher side, and closer to Singapore's cafe prices though. We only ordered coffee from the cafe so I can't comment on the quality of the food.

The Farm Cafe opens daily from 12pm to 9pm on Mondays to Thursdays and 10am to 9pm on Fridays to Sundays. Reservations are recommended and you can either call +60193755818 or email Booking@talulahill.com to reserve.

Apart from the Farm Cafe, there are NO other food options at Talula Hill Farm Resort. The only other option is to drive out to Kluang town which is about 10 to 15 minutes away.

And trust me when I say there are plenty of cheap food options! 😆😆😆

OTHER THINGS TO NOTE

When I shared the IG Reel on my IG earlier this month, I received a few messages asking about parking and security of the place.

You can park directly below your cabin and while I cannot speak for the security of the place, I can share that access by car to the accommodation area is controlled via a gantry which can only be opened by the cabin key card.

Also, if you are driving, do note that you have to go off-road to reach the resort. The drive on the gravel-filled road takes no more than 3 minutes, and there are ample 'Talula Hill' signs along the way to point you in the right direction. While the road may be bumpy, it is not overly dangerous - just drive slowly and you will be fine.

As for the recommended number of nights to stay, I would say 1 night is adequate. Two nights will be good too if you prefer to take things really slow and easy, and just spend the time to chill. Else, one night will be enough:

- Head there early for lunch at the cafe, and check in after that

- Spend the afternoon exploring the farm and experiencing the various activities

- Have dinner at the cafe, or drive out to Kluant town

- After dinner, head to the Event Hall for a game of table tennis, mini billiards, carrom or other board games

- Chill the night away in the cabin, or head to the campfire if you are there on a Saturday

- The next day, have breakfast and enjoy the rest of the morning with the farm animals or harvesting vegetables

- Check out with plenty of memories 😊

Talula Hill Farm Resort offers a farm stay experience like no other, and I think we may just head back again!

The Family Suite at Citadines Connect City Centre Singapore has a Bunk Bed with Slide & Climb Wall!

 Media Invite

There's a new family-friendly hotel in Singapore for staycations and trust me when I say that kids will never want to step out of their room. All because of this.

Primely located across from Dhoby Ghaut MRT Station, Citadines Connect City Centre Singapore is the first hotel property in Singapore to debut under Citadines Connect by The Ascott Limited.

Already an inconic building in its own right, the building in which the hotel is housed in once belonged to Rediffusion. And even before that, the hotel site was once home to one of Singapore’s earliest railway stations which operated from 1902 to 1932 - Tank Road Railway Station.

To pay homage to the site's history, the hotel has retrofitted its interior with architecture that exudes the charm of a by-gone era of train travel.

Just stepping into the lobby of the hotel seems to transport one to a railway station, with its railway track-like ceilings to the train station arches found outside of the hotel.

The train theme continues right to the lift lobbies - not only on Level 1, but also on susequent levels of the hotel. I love how the hotel has embraced the aesthetics of a train station through and through.

Of course, the delight for kids lie inside the rooms and if you are planning a stayction for the rooms, my advice is to book the 'Family Room' or 'Family Suite' and watch your kids' faces light up when they step into the room for the first time.

Because which kid wouldn't love a bunk bed that comes with a climb wall AND a slide???

The rooms also come equipped with a safari tepee tent, hopscotch game mat, playroom couch, storybooks, games and welcome gifts... all these in a fun cheery room.

But parents, don't worry about having to squeeze on the bunk bed and having to whizz down the slide because you get your OWN privacy courtesy of a separate room.

Yes, the Family Room and Family Suite each comes with two rooms: one room for the kids and the other a Loft room for parents to enjoy a blissful slumber.

The Loft Room comes with a queen bed and a sofa bed while the kids room’s bunk bed also has another pull-out mattress. This means that the Family Suite can sleep up to 6 pax. Great for large familes!

So while my kids were a tad old to enjoy the kiddy room, my 2 boys did love the Loft room, which was safari-themed by the way. I think it had to do with the daily-replenishable  FREE minibar snacks and drinks... and free WiFi! 😆

And I have to give a special mention to the bathroom door in the kids' room - I love how much it resembled an actual raliway station door!

Recreational amentities are all located on the stunning space on the rooftop level, which features an outdoor pool and wading pool for younger kids.

For those looking to keep fit, there are also the 24-hour fitness room and aqua gym.

Breakfast was served at Edition Rooftop Bar & Restaurant and while it wasn't buffet-style, the food was pretty delicious and filling.

Being located in the Dhoby Ghaut area also means that the hotel is within walking distance to shopping options like Plaza Singapura as well as nature discovery at Fort Canning Park.

In particular, this outdoor playground at Jubilee Park @ Fort Canning Park is just a short walk away from Citadines Connect City Centre Singapore!

If you are looking at other room options, you wouldn't be disappointed as they are fashioned with design inspiration from the 60s and 70s, awash in retro yellow and Florence green hues.
