This diva is growing

(Daddy muses)

It's been nearly 8.5 months since Ale joined the legion of The Cheekiemonkies, and already, she has been exhibiting behaviours not previously seen in the other 2 monkies.

As an infant, Ayd was probably the easiest of the lot to take care - eat, sleep, pee, poop and repeat. No tantrums, no whining, pure bliss.

Ash the infant was relatively okay - he needed to be carried to sleep, even when he awoke in the middle of the night. Plus he had a hobby of vomiting his last fed meal very often.

And THE diva?

If you thought the koala bear was clingy, you haven't seen the one I have at home.

She can't let the Mummy out of her sight. At all. Mummy pops into the toilet, she cries. Mummy goes to the next room, she cries. Mummy lets out a loud fart, she cries.

Ok, I'm kidding about the last part.

And don't even think of leaving her bedside when she has fallen asleep. She has this ultra-sensitive in-built sensor that puts most security gadgets to shame. She's also highly allergic to strangers - once an auntie just touched her on the cheek in a foodcourt and she immediately wailed so loudly that I feared somebody would dial 999.

Or maybe that's how girls are programmed?

But of course things are not that bleak.

She simply adores her 2 older brothers, and finds every chance to play with them. Even when they are still asleep! She just crawls over to them and starts yanking their hair. Who needs alarm clocks when you got Ale?

Luckily, the 2 older monkies absolutely love their little princess so very much too and shower her with hugs & kisses throughout the day. I don't know of any candy that could be this sweet. :)

And now that she is so much more mobile - her daily regime consists of crawling all over the house on all fours & pulling herself to stand and cruising along - you can't let her out of your sight even if you wanted to.

After having 2 boys, the experience and process of raising a baby girl definitely feels very different. And I don't think this is something that is going to change in the days ahead. Especially if I have to screen her boyfriends next time!

All things said, I still wouldn't trade her for anything else in the world.

Even though she leaves slimy mucks all over my Transformers toys.
