The most significant thing about Mother's Day falling in the month of May isn't the significance of the day itself - it is that Mother's Day comes before Father's Day.
And the beauty of it?
Dads get to set the tone.
So if Dads go for broke for a Mother's Day gift, then the bar will be set very high for Father's Day come June.
I'm kidding, of course.
Nobody buys gifts for Dads anyway.
But, today isn't about us Dads.
It is about the special women in our lives - the one who brought us up unselfishly and the one who approved our promotion to the rank of Dads.
To my wife - thanks for your unconditional love all these years. You have always been the calming influence in the family, and I could never have asked for a better mother to Ash, Ayd & Ale. I know, 4 kids in one household ain't a piece of cake, especially if the eldest one irritates the hell out of you at times.
To my mum-in-law - thanks for your steadfast love and doting care for Ash, Ayd & Ale. I have seen your unwavering commitment and support for Pa, and it has made me feel proud to be your son-in-law.
To my mum (although she most probably won't be reading this) - thanks for taking care of Ash, Ayd & Ale all these years so that we go off to work everyday without any worries. There is a saying, "The only thing better than having you as a mum is that my children have you for a grandmother". Thanks too, for everything you have done for me in all my 36 years, including imparting your disdain for ants to me.
Happy Mother's Day!
