Heaven is a Place on Earth @ Montigo Resorts (Part 2)

My previous post on Montigo Resorts Nongsa proved to be a hit, garnering close to 2,000 views (and counting) within 48 hours of publishing it. In fact, I had both friends as well as readers who messaged me to find out more about the resort... in particular, the OLO Kid's Club.

Housed within a 2-storey hut constructed entirely in bamboo, the OLO Kid’s Club is not only located close to TADD’S restaurant but to put it simply - a dream come true for kids!

The entire second level is littered with toys, books, board games and colourful comfy cushions if your child just wants to laze around.

But I highly doubt any kid will turn into a sloth here, not when there are three tube slides and one ball pit at the Kid's Club too!

As always, my monkies gravitated to the slides and ball pit first. But why am I not surprised? It looked so fun that I even had a slide down one of the slides myself! And no, I didn't get stuck (thankfully).

The first level housed several cubicles which had game consoles like Wii and XBox Kinect to keep kids even more duly entertained.

And if there is one thing I have learned after 8+ years as a parent, it is having a water bottle by your side at all times is good. But what is even better is knowing where the closest bathroom is at all times! So a nice touch that I found to be thoughtful was that the kids' toilets were housed in the same hut as the Kid's Club, which definitely made it very convenient in those urgent times of need.

The Kid's Club comes complete with its own wading pool for kids too.

Which the monkies wasted no time to testing it out.

The OLO Kid's Club operates from 9am to 6pm daily and is open to all children (up to 18 years old). However, if the child is below 16 years of age, he/she must be accompanied by a parent. The facility including all toys may be enjoyed for free. Great news for kids and parents alike, no?

And parents need not be bored while their kids are wrecking havoc at the Kid's Club. They can opt to sip a cuppa or have a snack while flipping through the pages of a magazine... and still able to keep an eye on the kids at the same time.

But if parents really yearn for some alone-time away from the kids, parents can sign their kids up for the full-day or half-day programmes (chargeable) where the OLO Kid’s Club team will look after the kids during the programme.

Full-day programs are from 9am to 3pm and from 12noon to 6pm inclusive of one meal and drink for IDR 350,000++ / S$47++ per child. Half-day programs are offered from 9am to 12noon and from 3pm to 6pm for IDR 225,000++ / S$30++ per child.

There are tons of activities offered and these include include mask making, trivia games, kite making, cooking classes, face painting sessions and many more. Obviously, the wifey and I could not let up such a wonderful chance to ditch the monkies and enjoy some precious couple time together. And I guess the feeling must have been mutual for the monkies too, seeing how impatiently they bade us farewell before getting down to the business of cookie-making.

And while the monkies were kneading their own dough at the Kid's Club, the wifey and I were off to get some kneading of our own... on our tired backs, at the Montigo Resorts Spa.

If you ask me, nothing quite defines the pleasure of a getaway like a spa experience, especially if it is situated right next to the uplifting sea. The only problem was we were spoilt for choices when it came to scrutinising the Spa Menu.

But with such a tranquil environment - and a Jacuzzi pool to boot - I guess it didn't really matter which Spa treatment the wifey and I picked.

I eventually settled for the Indonesian Massage while the wifey gunned for the Montigo Massage. Now, I am not a big fan of massages... in fact, I don't even recall the last time I went for one but I have to say that S$72++ in return for an hour's worth of full body massage is pretty reasonable.

The interesting thing about the herbs used in the massage is that they are all grown right at the Spa grounds!

The couple room that we had our massages in was clean, not to mention that it came complete with the perfect scents, music and lighting to suit the experience too.

For larger groups, there is even a bigger room which can accommodate up to 6 adults.

As for the massage experience, you can choose the amount of pressure you prefer (light, medium, hard) beforehand and your masseur will knead accordingly. And as I mentioned earlier, massages are not really my kind of thing but the moment I was done with my massage, I think I may be a convert. Because to put it mildly, I felt as if I have gotten a brand new set of neck, shoulders and back!

And something tells me the wifey feels the same way too.

We then headed back to the Kid's Club to pick the monkies up, who expressed surprise that we were back so early (!!!). And with our superb stay at Montigo Resorts Nongsa fast approaching its end, it would be criminal if we didn't get to dip in the gorgeous pool near TADD'S restaurant at least once.

And so we did.

Photobombed by Ayd's fingers.
Should you feel ravenous after all these physical activities - we know we were! - be sure to check out the adjacent TADD'S restaurant, an all-day dining restaurant which serves à la carte local, Asian and Western cuisine.

Our buffet breakfast was also at TADD'S and the first thing that struck me about the place was its lovely ocean view. Definitely makes dining a little more pleasant.

The boys were more focused on the food though and to be honest, the breakfast choices were not overly spectacular but they were decent enough.

At least it kept the monkies satisfied and happy.

There were the usual egg, prata and soup noodle stations but the one which stood out for me was the mee goreng one. The mee goreng was fried on the spot and it was heavenly!

Lucky thing too that it was non-spicy so the monkies could enjoy it as well. Even Ash - who usually chooses to eat noodles only if it is the last thing left on earth - loved it!

The monkies rampaged through the Kid's Club once again after breakfast, topping it off with yet another dip in our villa's infinity pool.

Can anyone get tired of just lazing by your very own private pool? While snacking on the monkies' cookie creations at the same time? Certainly not us.

They tasted magnificent by the way. Sigh, we are so going to miss this place.

And so, the inevitable had to happen. It was time for us to check out after our 2D1N worth of fun. Predictably, all of us were reluctant to leave... but at least we got the the opportunity to prolong our Montigo experience a tad longer by dining at TADD'S for lunch.

A huge thanks to all the staff at Montigo Resorts Nongsa for making our stay (and my birthday) a truly pleasant and memorable one! And we would love to thank Seo-Hyun - the pretty jie-jie as Ale calls her - too for showing such wonderful hospitality.

Without a doubt, this has to rank as one of the best holiday experiences that our family has had all these while. The last I heard, the boys are already plotting a speedy return to the resort... aided by their partner-in-crime, the wifey.

Wow!! Such a recent review. My colleagues and I were planning to go but I couldn't make it and the whole retreat just didn't take off. So disappointing. But I hope we can go next year!

How much did u pay for the buffet? Minimum how many pax ? Service staff do the bbq for u at no cost?

Cheekiemonkies said...

Hi Mandy,

Thanks for dropping by our blog!

Do you mean the breakfast buffet or the BBQ in our villa?

The BBQ is not a buffet, but a set menu. Sorry but I do not know the price as it was sponsored by the resort. But I do know that the minimum pax is 2 and you have to pay an additional amount for the service staff.

Sorry that I can't be of more help!

Very beautiful write up and pictures! I stumbled upon your blog as I was looking for more information around Montigo itself, as I had book one for my getaway in January!

If you don't mind, could I kindly ask you for some additional information please?
Well, I was wondering if that BBQ service + food was an additional charge to the villa price? Or could we just use the pit and DIY our own food?
And of course, I would like to know if there are any places that I could get groceries near the resort. (Im not expecting to go to Nagoya Hill Mall thou)

Would really appreciate your reply! Thank you once again! =)

Hi BernBernBern,

Thanks for dropping by our blog! :)

Yes, the BBQ service & food are both additional. The pit is not present in the villa though, so you will have to bring your own disposable or portable BBQ pit along should you want to BBQ on your own.

As for groceries, I'm afrad the nearest supermarket or shops is abt 45 min to 1 hour of car ride away.

Hi ChuChu's Mama,

Thanks for your kind words!

Actually, everything that we did was within Montigo itself. We did not venture outside.

For the first day, the wife and I went for the massage while the kids played at the Kids Club. We had the BBQ in the villa after that.

Second day, the kids got to bake some cookies in the morning, followed by a swim in the pool. That was about it actually.

Hi!!

I'm thinking of bringing my 14 month old along. Do you think the activities and food will be suitable for him?

Thanks!
Shirlynn

Cheekiemonkies said...

Hi Shirlynn,

Thanks for dropping by our blog!

14 months may be a little young to enjoy the activities at Montigo. The OLO Kids Club does have some toys and books for toddlers on Level 2 but that's about it.

Food-wise it should not be a problem if he eats rice or noodles as the restaurants do have them on the menu.

Hope it helps!

Hi, were there LOTS of lizards after the sun goes down at the Spa Villa? I'm thinking of going back again but the thought of those lizards i saw when i was there (staying hill top then) makes me freak out..

Cheekiemonkies said...

Hi temptedtolove,

We did not see any lizards during our stay. Perhaps you can let the management know at the time of booking about your previous unpleasant experience? Hope that your 2nd stay will turn out awesome! :)
