No More CashCard woes with EZ-Pay

Advertorial

If you drive, chances are you would have experienced a certain emotion before.

Yes, THAT sinking feeling you get as you approach an in-operation ERP gantry and realise that your CashCard has not enough credit to cover the ERP charges.

ARGH!!!

What's worse than that? Having enough funds in your CashCard but forgetting to put it back in the in-vehicle unit (IU) because you have removed it thanks to complimentary parking at a mall - AND immediately driving under an in-operation ERP gantry after that.

Yes, that happened to yours truly a few weeks back.

And the fine administrative fee letter duly arrived a few days later.

Well, that's $10 down the drain... or $8 if I pay through electronic services.

Still, it will be nice to save that amount for my the monkies' next LEGO set. And of course, it will be even nicer to having not to worry about having low CashCard value or a CashCard in my IU – AND not get penalised.

Don't even get me started on the amount of time wasted while queuing up at the top-up machines OR even trying to locate the nearest top-up machines! Those reasons probably explain why I always have 3 CashCards tucked away somewhere in my car.

And then, I found out about EZ-Pay!

EZ-Pay is a new post-paid card-less service by EZ-Link for Electronic Road Pricing (ERP) in Singapore. Drivers simply need to register for an EZ-Pay account with their Citi Credit Cards and future ERP payments will be charged directly to it.

This means that motorists will be able to drive through ERP gantries without cashcards in their IUs, and does away with the hassle of topping up these cards when their values are low. Convenient much, no?

And signing up is a breeze too. For now, only Citi Credit Cards customers are able to register for EZ-Pay.

To begin, register for an account at ezpayreg.ezlink.com.sg/ with your NRIC number, Car Plate number and Citi Credit Card.

Upon registration, you will receive an SMS within one working day to confirm your IU number.

Reply accordingly and a confirmation email stating the effective start date for EZ-Pay will be sent to you within the next 4 days.

AND YOU ARE ALL SET! Easy peasy right?

The best part of it all? There are NO subscription or service fees to pay, making EZ-Pay the first in Singapore that will be FREE to use for everyone!

At the end of the month, the EZ-Pay charges will be billed via the monthly credit card statements. Yes, those charges will help you earn Rewards points as well! Motorists can also log onto the EZ-Pay portal to check on their transactions.

Personally, I love the convenience of EZ-Pay. By eliminating the need of constantly having to top up my CashCard, I free up precious time - time that can be put to better use elsewhere, like spending time with my monkies.

No more fines. No more top-up needed. No CashCard required in the IU. No service fees. What's not to love about EZ-Pay?

But there's more...
