In case you didn't know already, Diggersite has shut its operations at East Coast Park as Raintree Cove has closed. But the East's loss will be the North's gain as Diggersite has relocated to ORTO at Yishun!
And it opens on 10 March 2017!
Diggersite offers both adults and kids realistic experience in operating smaller scale construction machinery like excavators. Yes, they are no toys but REAL machinery!
Heading into ORTO, one will not be able to miss the bright yellow signage.
Located just beside the open air car park, Diggersite now occupies a larger area which means that the construction vehicles are spaced out further apart.
All of the previous stations at East Coast have been replicated here - some with a slight twist. In total, there are now 5 stations.
1. SCOOP STATION
The name sounds straightforward enough; kids are tasked to scoop sand using the excavators into a bucket.
2. WRECKING BALL STATION
This station involves knocking over plastic bottles using a ball attached to the arm of the excavator.
3. BALL PIT STATION
A previous crowd fave - because it was air-conditioned! - this station is now outdoors and features 2 diggers with 2 different tasks.
The above digger allows kids to grab colourful balls using a giant claw and place them into the tires while the digger below lets kids transfer the balls onto a slide!
4. LOG STATION
If you have older kids aged 7 and above, they will enjoy the 2 excavators here... simply because they require more skill.
Rather than scooping up sand, they are tasked to operate the excavators to complete certain goals. Like the Log Loading station where they have to pick up logs using the machine and place them into the wheelbarrow.
Or the Log Bowling station where they will get to release a log down a ramp and attempt to knock over three 'bowling pins'.
5. FORKLIFT STATION
This is the newest addition and I can already foresee it to be the monkies' fave station of the lot!
Kids will be able to drive - yes, DRIVE - a forklift around the Diggersite compound while transporting a wooden mallet from one point to another. COOL STUFF!!!
And considering how kids love to dig and dig and dig, there will also a sandpit with sand toys just for this purpose!
If you are planning to head down, here are a few things to take note of:
- The stations are located outdoors and minimally sheltered. So do bring along hats or sunblock in case the queues get too long.
- Complimentary usage of safety helmet and vest.
- The recommended age is from 2 years and above. Children under 6 years old must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
- No upper age limit as even adults are welcome.
- Opening hours are from 11am to 9pm on weekdays and 9am to 9pm on weekends.
- Due to the machinery involved, avoid wearing flip-flops or sandals as they do not protect the feet.
- Predictably, weekends and public holidays are peak periods to visit. So expect to wait much longer for the excavator rides.
Oh, and the pricing!
Because Diggersite is currently soft launching at its new home, the prices are CHEAPER!
At East Coast, it used to be $7 per ride and $50 for a bundle of 10 rides, with each ride lasting for 5 minutes.
At ORTO, each ride now costs $5 and a bundle of 10 rides* is only $30! That's $3 PER RIDE!
And the bonus? Each ride duration is now 7 minutes (except for the Forklift which remains at 5 minutes)!
*For the $30 for 10 rides bundle, ALL rides have to be utilised on the same day of purchase. Which means it pays to go down together with your friends! Promotion ends on 19 March 2017.
The pricing is only valid during the soft launch period though, which I hear is until end March or early April. SO HURRY!
