Exams may be lurking round the corner  - unless your child is a PSLE student (congrats!) - but I reckon kids can afford to chill a little on CHILDREN'S DAY. After all, it's the day where kids aged 12 and below get their day of fun and trust me, there comes a time when your kids will find the activities below too childish.


So make most of the chance to bring them out this 4th to 6th October 2019 weekend and if you are fretting over where to bring them, I have done the homework for you... more than 35 options - with more than half being FREE! - to take your pick from!

It's all about fun, friendship and imagination at Esplanade’s 17th edition of Octoburst! from 4 – 6 Oct 2019. There’s lots to look forward to this year with its line-up of interactive performances from around the world and workshops that encourages play and family fun.

On Children’s Day on 4 Oct, everyone is invited to join in the PIParade as everyone troops down the waterfront led by its lovable children’s mascot PIP and the boys and girls from Kinderland Marching Band and Maha Bodhi School Symphonic Band.

Colours of Koinobori

Koinobori are carp-shaped windsocks traditionally used in Japan to celebrate Children’s Day. Colour in your very own Koinobori and join in story-telling and sing-along session to find out more about this culturally significant fish in Japan!

A first-of-its-kind dance game! “Shake & Waddle”, is a twist to the traditional favourite, “Snake & Ladders”. You ‘Got to Move’ and complete dance challenges with your team to make it to the top of the board! Suitable for ages 5 and beyond. (no dance experience needed!)

The aim is to try to be the first team to reach the no.“100” spot. Players will be grouped into 4 teams. The leader of each team will roll the dice and on every square is a dance challenge/mission attached to it. To win each challenge, all team members must participate in this dance activity. If successful, the team gets to roll the dice again to advance on the board. The dance challenges will get more difficult as the players advance on the board. REGISTER HERE.

As the centrepiece event of the Singapore Bicentennial, this multimedia sensory experience brings you back in time to witness key moments in Singapore’s transformation from as far back as 1299. It comprises of two parts - Time Traveller and Pathfinder. The first is an indoor cinematic, immersive journey which requires pre-booking of time slots while the latter is an outdoor exploratory trail featuring eight interactive pavilions and installations with no pre-registration required. I-Opener features the aesthetic and sensory play-worlds co-created by individuals with various disabilities, and also without. It invites kids aged 1 to 12 to explore their senses through play and the arts.


As we all know, the senses - sight, touch and hearing all play an important role in a child’s discovery of the world as well as their social-emotional development. But more than that, this exhibition DIFFERS from Playeum's previous exhibitions in that instead of just introducing the art of play to kids, it allows kids to step into the world of those with special needs and experience the way how they interact, play and sense the world around them.
