Gardens By The Bay - Bay East Garden

Parks always excite us, especially those with a large area for us to scoot around on our skate scooters! Well, playgrounds at a park are important too but sometimes we can have more than adequate fun without them!

The beautiful Gardens By the Bay project will only open on 29th June this year, but the Bay East Garden (which is actually opposite the main Gardens By The Bay) has been opened for more than a year already. It was developed as an interim garden, and it boasts a 2km long waterfront promenade whick overlooks the Marina Bay Financial District.

It was our first time at the Bay East Garden, and the first impression we got was that it was HUGE.

I was glad that I had my scooter with me.

As for di-di, he decided he should enjoy the magnificent view... with uhm, a little snack.

Ditto for mei-mei. :P

Okay, enough munching already. Time to explore the place!

There are quite a number of ponds scattered around the garden, and the good news for us was that there were rows of cattail plants. Di-di & I vividly remember them, because we had so much fun with them when we were at the Lorong Halus Wetland last year.

So yes, we repeated our fun once again with some of the ripe cattail plants.

We just had to give the stalks a good blow, and many tiny fluffy seeds would be floating all around us!

At that moment, I think it was safe to say that we forgot all about looking for a playground. Heh.

After we had our fun, Daddy decided to have his share of fun as well - photo-taking!

And I want to complain that mei-mei is becoming more and more mischievous. Daddy told all of us to sit still and smile nicely for the camera but all she wanted to do was to push our heads all the way down.

See the bully in action?

And guess what, she finally succeeded!

Luckily for Daddy (and us), he finally got a decent shot of us all smiling and looking at the camera at the same time. How rare is that???

I heard he was pretty happy with the above photo. So that probably explained why I was spared when I was the only one who 'spoiled' the family photo below.

OOPS.

Anyway, mei-mei's attention span was probably the same as a hobbit's height. So we had to abandon any hopes of a re-shoot while she scampers off.

Luckily, we did manage to get a family shot later on - with mei-mei's tired face.

Our final take of the Bay East Garden?

Come in the early morning or evening as the place can get really hot! There isn't any playgrounds here, but there are lots of running space. Coupled with the fact that there is hardly a crowd, we think it makes a good place for cycling, blading, skating, scooting... oh, and mei-mei says pram-ing too. Erm, because she enjoyed her time sitting in her pram I reckon.

How to get there?

Bay East Gardens is accessible via public bus service no. 158, or by walking across from Marina Barrage, which is just 5 minutes away. Parking facilities are also available at Bay East Gardens. Entry to Bay East is via Tanjong Rhu Road.
