Singapore Garden Festival 2012

(Daddy cultivates)

Asia's best Garden & Flower Show is in full bloom once again.

At the kind invitation of the organisers, I had the chance to go on a guided tour with the entire village in tow.

And here's what to expect.

At the Landscape & Fantasy Gardens, expect to see spectacular creations by local designers and top award-winning designers from renowned garden shows around the world.

This Fantasy Garden is named 'Garden of Tales', and was inspired by children's loves for fairy tales. There are different fairy tales like Snow White & the 7 Dwarfs, Little Red Riding Hood and Pinocchio hidden within the Garden and it certainly made the boys try their best in discovering all of them

The Floral Windows to the World showcases an enchanting display of beautiful flowers, creatively and delicately designed by celebrated local and international floral designers.

The Balcony Gardens may just inspire you to transform your own home balcony into something just as captivating.

I know my wifey has always haboured such ambitions. So she was the intrigued one as we toured this section of the Garden Festival.

The ever-popular Singapore Orchid Show prides itself on the rich and diverse heritage of orchids on display and it sure doesn't disappoint!

The Garden Fiesta is the place to be if you are looking for educational entertainment. Take your pick from stage performances, culinary art, floral arrangement demonstrations, gardening workshops and more! Click HERE for a detailed listing of the 'Talks in the Garden' Stage Programme (Level 4).

Yah, so many stuff... so little time.

But if you have kids tagging along, there is something just for them as well! There's Sara's Learning Garden just for the little ones and they can join Sara the Botanicosaurus on a guided tour and discover fascinating facts and enjoy interesting stories about aloe vera, lemon grass, garlic, spring onion and many more nutritious and yummy herbs and spices.

The duration of guided tour is one hour, and is suitable for K1 to P6 levels. Fees are $3 per child and $3 for an accompanying adult. The fee excludes admission charges into the Singapore Garden Festival, but includes a 'Sara Goes Gardening' Activity Book. Tours start at the top of every hour, and registrations are required at the Sara's Learning Garden @ Singapore Garden Festival, Level 4 Suntec Convention & Exhibition Hall.

But that's not all - parents will be glad to know that there's even a playground (Level 4) for kids aged between 5-12 years old to keep them busy too!

Whether you are a serious gardener, hobbyist or just looking for a fun time with the family, there is something for everyone at the Singapore Garden Festival 2012.

Spread over 2 hectares, marvel in the enchanting garden displays, feast your eyes on Asia's finest orchids, shop for your gardening needs at the Marketplace, or just simply let the kids enjoy the many activities - it will definitely be an unforgettable garden and floral fiesta!
