Sibling Revelry

19 months apart, Ash and Ayd are.

Back in the days when they were still toddlers, it was tough juggling between the both of them as they demanded equal attention. But growing up, Ash has been nothing short of an amazing big brother to Ayd. When Ayd cried as an infant, he was always the first person to run to his aid, offering a bottle or pacifier, or just to distract him with his goofy antics, often dancing around and singing to him. And all this while he is smiling broadly and bursting forth with unconstrained laughter.

In short, he really loves his younger brother. And I have to say that the feeling is mutual too.

Now that they are older and have become fairly independent, they have grown closer and are great playmates to one another. Ash is the one who Ayd looks for help when he is in need of assistance. Not to mention that they now too have a common enemy – Ale, when she is in one of her Diva moods and is bent on causing great disturbance and distress when they are playing together.

But that’s not to say they loathe her.

In fact, she means the world to them and they now take it upon themselves to act as her protector, shielding her from much unnecessary pain. Their interactions are seriously fun, and heartwarming to watch and I can easily envision that as all three grow up together, she will follow both the boys around like a little groupie, wide eyed and absorbing all that they can teach her – including the finer points about Skylanders and Ninjago and Adventure Time.

Ale is a very lucky girl to have two brothers who are so doting.

Of course, they will benefit greatly from having her around too. Sometime it is just so terrific to watch as both Ash’s and Ayd’s faces light up when they play together, and to see them rushing to give their dearest mei-mei the biggest hug ever.

I know it’s still early with the three of them and just like spouses, that there will surely be the inevitable strife and occasional squabbles which rile up them up as they grow up together. But for now, the wifey and I couldn’t be happier at how our kids, two boys and a girl have lovingly bonded with each other.

And long may that continue.

Happy to hear that :)

This is by no means "coincidence" when siblings are adoring and caring towards one another.

A warm Family, provides the bedrock, for kids to nurture and grow up positively with good attitudes.

I keep telling the young kids that once parents are gone, they only have each other.

cheers,
