9 Kids Activities for the National Day Long Weekend

(Daddy compiles)

On the hunt for great family activities to celebrate the Hari Raya and National Day long weekend from 8 to 11 August? Here are 9 ways to keep those kids (and parents) really busy!

Watch Fireworks at the National Day Parade (NDP)

No NDP tickets? No worries, you can still be part of the action and hustle with the crowd for front-row standing room at around the Marina Bay Waterfront Promenade come National Day on 9 August 2013. The Merlion Park and the Esplanade Bridge will no doubt also be very crowded, so do head on down early to book your viewing spot. Or you can check out the rest of the other Vantage points around the Marina Bay area too.

If you want to take things easy though, pull out the family picnic mat at The Meadow at Gardens by the Bay, Bay East Garden or Marina Barrage and sit back to enjoy the show in the sky. The Fireworks come on around 8.10pm but to be safe, anytime before 8pm will be perfect.

“An Island on the Tip” Play

In collaboration with Esplanade, Act 3 Theatrics will be presenting “An Island on the Tip” this National Day weekend . Inspired by Singapore’s past, present and future, these original tales are crafted by children from the “Young Authors Club”. Under the mentorship of R Chandran and Amy J Cheng from Act 3 Theatrics, children from the “Literacy Through Drama” program will take the stage in telling you these stories.

Date: 10 & 11 Aug 2013
Venue: Library@Esplanade – Dance Village
Time: 3pm – 3:30pm & 5pm – 5.30pm
