10 Activities & Promotions for Singapore National Day Long Weekend 2020

The good news is the National Day long weekend starts tomorrow! Bad news? The next long weekend is on 25 December 2020, Christmas Day. 😅 So cherish this long weekend with the kiddos! Discover clues that will lead you to exciting artefacts in our museum, and be inspired to view history through a fresh perspective. Solve puzzles, accomplish tasks, share your reflections and complete your journey with a special souvenir from the museum.


All you need is a mobile device or tablet with a Facebook account and the Facebook Messenger app. Register online via the website on the specific date if you would like to go on The Hunt@NMS. Do note that you are only allowed to participate once per day. 


National Museum Building Tour for Families

Is this your first time visiting the National Museum? Come along with our docents and discover some interesting gems about this 132-year-old building! Catch the façade projection at the National Museum of Singapore as it comes alight in celebration of Singapore’s 55th birthday with the theme Together, a Stronger Singapore.

2. Zoom into History

If artefacts could speak, what would they say? And if you could talk to them, what would you ask? Zoom into History is the National Museum of Singapore’s new way of letting you engage with its permanent collection in the digital space. A number of museum objects – voiced by local actors and comedians will be hosting live conversations and taking audiences on a journey back in time. “Zoom” into the stories of objects such as the Singapore Stone and a National brand rice cooker, and “zoom” through time as these objects highlight their place in Singapore’s history. 3. Arts@SBG presents NAC-ExxonMobil Concert in the Gardens

Join in online, as Singapore Botanic Gardens celebrate Singapore’s 55th birthday with its online edition of the NAC-ExxonMobil Concert in the Gardens series. Presented by Arts@SBG, the concert will be hosted by Jing Yun and feature Hong Shao Xuan and Pan Ying!


Learn more about Xinyao (æ–°è°£) which is uniquely Singaporean! Xinyao is a genre of music with its roots tracing back to the late 1970s, featuring Mandarin songs composed, written and performed by young Singaporeans. The concert will be hosted by Jing Yun, a Xinyao enthusiast and a senior presenter with 96.3FM. Be ready to be mesmerised by their performances as they bring you down memory lane with Xinyao classics!

NDP2020 will be brought into every Singapore home. Many familiar favourites will move across Singapore throughout the heartlands. Singaporeans can catch these features in person and through live broadcasts over TV and internet platforms. Evening: The Show

7PM: An Evening Show at Home

The NDP2020 Evening Show will be brought right into the hearts and homes of all Singaporeans through live broadcast from the Star Performing Arts Centre. This is the first time that the NDP Show is conducted indoors. The Show will be conducted separately from the Parade, which will be held in the morning at the Padang.

8.20PM: Fireworks

Fireworks will be launched at 10 locations around Singapore allowing Singaporeans to view the fireworks live from the comforts of their homes at around 8.20pm and will last for around 5 minutes. The locations are designed to maximise viewership from homes across Singapore. Residents in the nearby estates may also be able to view the fireworks from their homes

(4) Bishan,
