Sentosa Island Lights is back this December school holidays, and it has brought along Sanrio characters for the trip down memory lane!
This year, Sentosa’s festive light-up, Island Lights with Sanrio characters will feature larger-than-life light installations comprising of Hello Kitty, Pompompurin, My Melody and Little Twin Stars. Yes, expect plenty of photo opportunities.
In total, there will be SEVEN light installations scattered across Siloso Beach to keep you IG happy.
And they will be alongside with classic icons from Sentosa over the years, like the monorail and the colourful slides at Fantasy Island (if you remember that, then you are as old as me 😂).
So if you are planning a trip down, here are a few tips to fully maximise your time at Island Lights:
TIP #1: PRE-BOOKING IS A MUST
Entry to Island Lights is FREE but pre-booking your date and time slot online is compulsory. No walk-ins will be entertained so it is highly recommended that you reserve your visit slot before heading down.
There are three 1-hour time slots per day and you may register up to 5 persons per visit from the following sessions every night:
• Session 1: 7.30pm to 8.30pm
• Session 2: 8.30pm to 9.30pm
• Session 3: 9.30pm to 10.30pm
UPDATE: From 28 December 2020 onwards, visitors can also make bookings for up to 8 persons for visits.
Sessions are available for booking opens 5 days in advance, at 0000h of each day (i.e. bookings for 13 December, opens on 8 December, 0000hr). You can pre-book your tickets HERE.
On the day of your visit, head down to Siloso Beach (entrance at Sapphire Pavilion) and show your email confirmation to be allowed entry.
TIP #2: HEAD TO LIGHT INSTALLATIONS WITH SHORTER QUEUES FIRST
Because of COVID-19, crowd management and safe distancing measures have to be put in place. Hence, please be patient and do expect queues to enter the various light installations for your photo opportunity.
That said, because the exit is located at the other end of Siloso Beach (near Rasa Sentosa Resort), you may wish to head to the other light installations nearer there first if the crowd is lesser. Here is a map for you to plan your route.

Do note that there is NO re-entry once you exit the area.
TIP #3: ONE HOUR PER TIME SLOT SO BE THERE EARLY
Because of the time slot bookings, each person is allowed up to a maximum of one hour to spend within the area. So my advice is be early for your pre-booked time slot because you never know if the queues are going to be long.
But once inside, one hour is more than enough for you to go around taking photos. As mentioned, there are seven light installations in total so here is what to expect:

TIP #4: YOU CAN SNAP A PHOTO WITH POMPOMPURIN WITHOUT ANY PRE-BOOKING
Eagle-eyed readers will spot that there are only six light installations above. But there are seven, no?
The final one is located just outside the exit of the Island Lights area, which is near to Rasa Sentosa Resort. Pompompurin is waiting right beside the 'SILOSO' work block and you can head there to snap a photo with him with or without any pre-booking.
Of course, if you do not have any pre-booking, you can only take a photo from outside the barricade area but at least you will be able to view one of the light installations without any booking! 😁
TIP #5: SNAP, POST & ENJOY DISCOUNTS at SENTOSA'S F&B OUTLETS
If you are going to post your selfies with Hello Kitty online, might as well milk it for all its worth! Post that selfie with Hello Kitty or at any of the light installations at Island Lights on your FB/IG account (make sure it is set to public) and include the hashtag #SentosaIslandLights.
