The wifey and I celebrated our Wedding Anniversary yesterday, and Emicakes seemed to have known that... because they sent us a very tantalizing creation! So it became the perfect opportunity for the monkies and the both of us to have an impromptu early mini-celebration at home.
Actually, the Peach Mango Sunshine cake is Emicakes' newly-launched cake flavour which they have kindly given us for a review. But don't tell the wifey that, okay?
At first glance, the design of the Peach Mango Sunshine cake is pretty straightforward. But when it came to the all-important taste test, it didn't disappoint. The juicy peach cubes are generous and I like the texture of the zesty blend of mango mousse tucked in between layers of soft and fluffy vanilla chiffon+.
So what is chiffon+? Chiffon+ is a light and fluffy chiffon that is healthier than ordinary sponge cakes. The enhanced recipe is made with milk protein making it up to 30% less cholesterol!
Amazingly, the taste of the cake isn't compromised. The sponge is well-compacted yet soft and the mango mousse which also covers the cake isn't sickeningly sweet, making the overall taste of the cake one of the best mango cakes I have ever tasted.
I admit, I couldn't stop after the first slice. And considering that both Ash & Ayd are not a huge fan of anything cakes, they had second helpings! Drats, even lesser portions for me.
