See a different side of Universal Studios Singapore™ at night, with a light-up parade & fireworks!

Advertorial

Compared to visiting a theme park in the day, strolling through one when the sun sets brings on a different feel. The disparity is so contrasting that the simple overlay of moonlight can make it seem like one is in an entirely new park altogether. Especially if it is a theme park that you have visited before.

So if you have never visited a theme park come nightfall, here is your chance! Universal Studios Singapore is extending its operating hours till 10pm on Fridays, Saturdays and select public holidays – complete with a special line-up of night-only programmes.

What exactly changes as the sun sets?

Plenty, as the monkies and I found out.

Hollywood Dreams Light-Up Parade
Time: 7.30pm

The Hollywood Dreams Parade first premiered at Universal Studios Singapore in 2011 and since then, it has kept things fresh for visitors by enhancing the parade floats, incorporating new music and dance routines as well as new props and costumes.

Now, Universal Studios Singapore has updated the parade with its biggest - and most glamourous - transformation yet... a NIGHT parade, complete with illuminated floats!

The parade starts at The Lost World, and makes its way through Ancient Egypt, Sci-Fi City, and New York, exiting at Vine Street just before The Brown Derby. If you ask me, the New York area is the best location to catch the parade procession.

Expect to see floats and dancers illuminated with neon hues and LED magic with performers rocking along the streets of the park.

The crowd was grooving along with characters from Madagascar and dancing to a tribal drumbeat - everything felt so festive and cheery!

The monkies' fave? Characters from the fairytale wonderland of Far Far Away like Shrek and Puss in Boots.

I had seen the daytime version of the Hollywood Dreams Parade and I definitely prefer the night version because everything just seems so much more vibrant and visually engaging.

Somehow, the light and sound effects of the Jurassic Park and Revenge of the Mummy floats are immensely accentuated during the night parade - further enhancing the experience!

The parade ends off on an upbeat note, with an infectious musical number.

I think I can speak for my monkies when I say all of us love this night parade: the music is catchy, the floats are impressive, and there is a downright fun energy to it. It is exactly the kind of parade that hypes you up and puts a smile on your face.

Oh, and of course we get reminded not to head home too early lest we miss the fireworks. But more on that later.

Night Sessions (Live Bands)
Time: 8.05pm & 9.10pm

What's After Hours fun without some music? Chill out with live performances of pop & rock songs and original numbers from local bands like OK Ready and 53A.

With all the radio-friendly hits that the bands dish out, it will be extremely hard not to sing along. And there is absolutely no need to feel shy - chances are you will not be the only one!

Pop-up Food Stalls

No night party will be complete without food so start licking those lips! Choose from street food like Lollipop Wings, Popcorn Chicken Cone, Golden Cheese Potato and Curry Fishballs.

Psst, those Lollipop Wings were the monkies' fave!

Explore Universal Studios Singapore in a new (moon) light

Personally, I feel each themed section of the park becomes more mysterious and mesmerising at night.

Riding an outdoor attraction, like rollercoasters, at night can also offer such a totally different experience. Launching into the cool night on Battlestar Galactica: CYLON feels exhilarating in a unique way.

Did I mention the rides remain open until 10pm too???

As an added bonus, with the sun down the Singapore nights are significantly cooler too... which makes queuing for rides a much more palatable proposition. Although I have to say that when we were there, the queues for the rides were all noticeably shorter! Another plus point, WOOT!

And that includes queuing up for photo opportunities with the characters too.

Fireworks Spectacular
Time: 10pm (Only on Saturdays and select public holidays)

There's nothing quite like ending the day (and night) with a spectacular display of fireworks.

Synced to a dramatic musical score, the whole experience was truly breathtaking.

But the BEST endorsement of Universal After Hours probably came from the monkies' response when the fireworks ended - they DID NOT want to leave!

Looks like we have to make another trip back then! 😜

It's $56 for local residents, but without the $16 meal vouchers.
